IZA and the World Bank welcomes you to the Third Conference on Employment and Development in Rabat, Morocco on 5-6 May 2008.
The World Bank has put forward a strategy that aims at assisting the international research community to address priority areas within the labor market. In 2006, the World Bank and the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) have launched a new IZA research area on "Employment and Development." At the core of this partnership are the series of international annual conferences to provide a platform to bring together researchers and policy makers from around the world to discuss and present their work in these priority areas.
The first two conferences, held in Germany, were very successful and have attracted high volume of quality research and policy discussion on employment and development from around the world. More than 100 policy makers and international researchers participated at the two precedent events.
Organizing the third annual conference in Morocco aims at accelerating the momentum and making this research and policy forum more accessible to networks in developing countries, especially in the region of North Africa and the Middle East. Parallel sessions will be organized as will keynote speakers and a policy and an academic panel sessions.
